Established in 1922, Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) is a public institution implementing a liberal arts study policy based on the Harvard study model. VMU Education Academy is one the leading teacher training centres in Lithuania, offering laboratories of innovative didactics, including a virtual didactic laboratory (edulab.vdu.lt) and other practical laboratories with conditions of crucial importance for the training and professional development of innovative teachers that can adapt to the rapidly changing world. Institute for Study Innovations (ISI), being part of VMU Education Academy, is a university unit working with university faculties on curriculum redevelopment for online and virtual studies, testing digital innovations in higher education, as well as developing digital competences for teachers at different educational levels. In addition, ISI researchers are involved in the implementation of national and international research projects, integrating, testing and assessing the effectiveness of technological innovations and solutions, such as micro-credentialisation, virtual mobility, badges, AI, explainable AI, and their integration and impact on the study process.
ISI provides expert consultations to Lithuanian educational institutions, focusing on analysing the success and broader impact of various digital solutions for education. Furthermore, ISI researchers actively contribute to academic communities by participating in, moderating and organising scientific events, webinars, training and workshops at national and European levels. Finally, the EdTech Centre was established as part of ISI, aiming to strengthen collaboration between university researchers and EdTech companies in developing digital education solutions. It aims to make sense of the integration of EdTech in teaching and learning and ensure the quality of the digital education ecosystem.
